Proofreading and content QA

Find and fix errors in web copy, product listings and documents before they go live.

How employers screen it: A passage with planted errors to mark in a few minutes, scored on detection and false flags.

Step 1 · Check where you stand

This is the real Proofreading test; your result opens on its own page with every error explained.

Find the errors

Tap every word that contains an error. Tap again to unmark. Only mark what you can name; correct words you mark count against you.

Step 3 · Be ready for the interview

1
What is the difference between proofreading and editing?

Proofreading finds errors in a finished text: spelling, grammar, punctuation, formatting. Editing changes the text itself for clarity, structure or tone. Say which you are applying for and that you can tell the difference when a client asks for one and expects the other.

2
How do you proofread a long document?

In passes: one for meaning, one sentence by sentence for grammar and agreement, one for punctuation and formatting. Describe how you keep your place on screen and how you handle fatigue.

Step 4 · Prove it, then apply

No listings to show right now. Listings come from a third-party job API and change through the day. Search current listings for "proofreader".

Questions about proofreading jobs

Is proofreading the same as editing?

No. Proofreading finds errors in finished text; editing changes the text for clarity. Screens for proofreading roles test the first.

Do I need a qualification?

Most entry roles test skill rather than ask for a qualification. A strong detection rate matters more.

What score passes?

About 90% of planted errors found with one or two false flags at most.
