Pick the role you are looking at
Answer customer messages for shops, apps and telecom brands, usually in shifts that match the client's time zone.
How employers screen it: A 60-second typing test (most ask 35 to 40 WPM), then a short written reply checked for tone and clarity, then a customer-service scenario round.
Step 1 · Check where you stand

Step 3 · Be ready for the interview
Give a net figure and where it comes from: "About 42 net WPM at 96 percent accuracy, from daily one-minute tests over the last month." A specific number with a method is more credible than a round guess.
Because the work is read by customers. A fast reply with a wrong name or amount creates a second ticket. Explain that you practise for accuracy first and then speed.

Also screened in these roles:
Non-voice support and admin roles where every reply is written: refunds, delays, complaints.
How employers screen it: Write a reply to a scenario; checked for greeting, purpose, length, next step, sign-off and sentence length.

Step 3 · Be ready for the interview
Acknowledge, apologise once, give the facts with dates and amounts, say what you have done, and tell them when to expect it and what to do if it does not arrive. Keep it under 120 words.
Answer the problem, not the tone. Do not mirror their language, do not say 'calm down', and do not apologise repeatedly. Facts and a next step calm most people.

Step 3 · Be ready for the interview
I let them explain without interrupting, then acknowledge the specific problem, for example: "You've waited five days for an order that should have taken two." Next I confirm the details and say what I will do and by when. I keep my tone even and focus on the fix, not on who caused it.
Use a short situation-action-result answer. For example: a customer wanted a refund outside the policy window, so I explained the rule plainly and raised an exception request with billing that same day. The customer accepted the outcome because they knew exactly what was happening and when.

- Day 6: read the interview set aloud and prepare your own examples.
- Day 7: apply to the listings marked as a fit on the job board, quoting your score and code.

Questions about chat support jobs
Why both typing and writing?
Chat employers check that you can keep up and that your replies close the issue. The two tests here match those two screens.
Is there a voice test?
Not for non-voice roles. Voice roles add a spoken English assessment, which this site does not cover yet.
Will I work nights?
Accounts serving the US usually do. The listing states the shift; say plainly in the interview what you can do.
