Quantitative aptitude: practice, test and prove it
Percentages, profit and loss, ratios, time and work, speed, interest and averages with checkable numbers.
Aptitude screenings for freshers, bank roles and IT trainee programmes usually give you a timed set of short numerical problems. Each one can be solved in a minute or two if you know the method, and the wrong options are often the results of common mistakes, such as dividing by the selling price instead of the cost price.
Every question here shows its numbers and every explanation shows the full calculation, so you can check each step yourself. The lessons cover the base-value rule for percentages and the rate method for work, speed and interest.
Benchmark: The pass mark on this site is 80%; quantitative aptitude is commonly screened for fresher, bank and IT trainee roles. Requirements vary by employer.

Common questions
Can I use a calculator in aptitude screenings?
Many timed screenings do not allow one, so practise mental methods like splitting 15% into 10% and 5%. The numbers in these questions are chosen so they work out without a calculator.
Which topics should I learn first?
Start with percentages and ratios, because profit and loss, discount and interest questions all use them. Then move on to time and work and speed and distance.
Is it better to guess or skip a question?
It depends on whether the screening uses negative marking, so read the instructions first. Without negative marking, eliminate clearly wrong options and make your best choice.
