Excel practical scenarios
Scenario questions where the interviewer describes a sheet and asks what you would do.
The numbers are stored as text. Convert with Text to Columns, VALUE(), or multiply by 1, then SUM works.
Add a helper column with =TEXT(A2,"mmm yyyy") or group the date field in a pivot table by month.
In the first list, =COUNTIF(SecondList, A2); a 0 means missing. Filter on 0.
Conditional formatting with a rule such as 'cell value less than 35', applied to the score column.
The last argument was TRUE or omitted, so Excel did an approximate match on unsorted data. Set it to FALSE.
Paste values into a copy for sharing, or protect the formula cells and share the file with input cells unlocked. For wide distribution, export to PDF.
Practise out loud. Say each answer once as written, then again in your own words with your own number or story.
Have a number ready. "My Excel score is at benchmark on a timed test" is a stronger answer than "I am good at it". Take the test and quote the result.
