Power BI: practice, test and prove it
Data models, Power Query, relationships, DAX measures and columns, CALCULATE, visuals, publishing and refresh.
Power BI screenings rarely ask you to name buttons. They check whether you understand how a report works underneath: where data should be cleaned, how tables relate, when to write a measure instead of a calculated column, and why a total looks wrong. Many include a short DAX formula to read or fix.
This page has 15 practice questions, one lesson on modelling and Power Query, one on DAX, and interview answers you can adapt. If you are new, read the modelling lesson first, because most DAX problems start with a weak model.
Benchmark: The pass mark is 80%, and Power BI is commonly screened for data analyst, MIS executive and reporting analyst roles. Requirements vary by employer.

Common questions
Do I need to know the M language?
Not deeply for most junior roles. You should be comfortable with Power Query steps such as changing types, removing columns and merging queries, and know that each step is recorded.
How much DAX is expected?
Commonly SUM, COUNTROWS, DIVIDE, CALCULATE with simple filters and a time intelligence function such as TOTALYTD. Understanding filter context matters more than memorising many functions.
Is Excel knowledge useful for Power BI?
Yes. Pivot tables, lookups and clean tabular data all carry over, and many MIS roles use both tools side by side.
