Rounds candidates commonly report
Practise the same formats here
Tech Mahindra Business Process Services (BPS) runs large support operations in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Pune, Noida, Bengaluru and other Indian cities, with teams in the Philippines and other markets. It hires freshers in bulk for customer support and non-voice processes, and the rounds are short and predictable.
What the hiring process usually looks like
Candidates most often describe three rounds. The first is a self-introduction with HR, where you explain your background and why you want to join. The second is a Versant-style or communication test that mixes grammar and vocabulary questions with a reading passage and spoken repetition. Non-voice and chat roles frequently add a typing test. The third is an operations round where a manager asks about the BPO sector, your shift flexibility and how you would handle a customer. Walk-in drives can finish in a day; online applications commonly take one to two weeks.
How to prepare in 7 days
- Day 1: Write and rehearse your self-introduction. Keep it under a minute and avoid memorised-sounding phrases.
- Day 2: English grammar practice: sentence correction, articles and tenses for 30 minutes.
- Day 3: Spoken English: read a short article aloud, then explain it in three sentences without looking.
- Day 4: Typing drills with mixed-case text and punctuation; measure accuracy before speed.
- Day 5: Customer service lesson on tone: how to say no politely, how to apologise once and move on.
- Day 6: Learn basic BPO terms and prepare answers to "Why BPO?" and "Are you fine with night shifts?"
- Day 7: Full mock: introduction, five grammar questions, a two-minute typing test and a mock call.
What to bring and expect
For walk-ins carry your resume, a government ID, mark sheets and passport photos. Expect the communication test to be on a computer with a headset. Ops managers often ask about the specific client process, so read the listing for product hints. Rotational and night shifts are common for international accounts; domestic processes usually run day shifts. Training is typically a few weeks and candidates report it is paid.
Focus your preparation on spoken English, grammar, typing and basic customer service structure. A week of practice on HomebaseWorks covers all four.

Five things that help on the day
- Prepare a crisp 45-second self-introduction that ends with why you chose a support role.
- Revise basic grammar: tenses, prepositions and sentence correction.
- Practise typing paragraphs rather than single words; non-voice tests use full text.
- Learn what BPO, SLA, AHT and escalation mean; ops managers often ask.
- Confirm the shift and location in the listing before the drive.
Questions
Does Tech Mahindra BPS have an aptitude test for support roles?
Most candidate reports mention an English or Versant-style test rather than a maths aptitude test. Some non-voice processes add a short computer and typing check.
What typing speed is expected?
No official figure is published. Candidates often report 25 to 35 words per minute with high accuracy as a common target for non-voice roles.
Is the process the same for freshers and experienced candidates?
The rounds are similar. Experienced candidates usually get more questions about their previous process and metrics.
