BPO eligibility checker

Enter your typing speed, accuracy and English level to see which BPO roles commonly match your current skills.

What BPO screening tests commonly measure

Most BPO companies in India use a combination of typing speed tests, accuracy checks and basic English comprehension assessments during their initial screening. The exact format varies by company, but the underlying skills being measured are consistent.

  • Typing speed (WPM). The most commonly cited benchmark for BPO data entry roles is 35 WPM. Chat support roles may expect 40+ WPM for handling multiple conversations.
  • Accuracy under pressure. Net WPM (errors deducted) is what most systems actually score. A fast but inaccurate typist often scores lower than a slower, precise one.
  • English comprehension. Even non-voice BPO roles require reading and interpreting English instructions, emails and documents accurately.
  • Sustained performance. Some companies test over 10 minutes, not just 60 seconds. Your sustained WPM may be 10–20% lower than your burst speed.

How to improve your BPO readiness

If your current scores are below the common benchmarks, here is a structured approach that typically shows results within 2–4 weeks of consistent practice.

  1. Below 25 WPM: start with general practice. Focus entirely on correct finger placement and accuracy; do not worry about speed yet.
  2. 25–34 WPM: switch to the 60-second office and BPO typing test and practise daily. You are close; most people cross 35 WPM within 1–2 weeks at this stage.
  3. 35+ WPM: build stamina with longer tests. Your 60-second score does not predict your sustained performance, and that is what real jobs test.
