AWS basics: practice, test and prove it
Regions and AZs, EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, security groups, RDS, CloudWatch, shared responsibility and pricing.
AWS screenings for entry-level roles check whether you understand the main building blocks and use them safely. Typical questions ask which service stores files, why an application should run in more than one Availability Zone, how an EC2 instance should get access to S3, or who patches the operating system.
This page tests those fundamentals against the pass mark. It avoids prices and console steps, which change often, and focuses on concepts that stay stable. The lessons cover IAM and networking, since most security and access questions come from those two areas.
Benchmark: The pass mark is 80%, and AWS basics are commonly screened for cloud support, junior DevOps, system administration and backend developer roles. Requirements vary by employer.

Common questions
Do I need an AWS account to prepare?
It is not required for this test, but trying the services hands-on makes the concepts stick. If you create an account, set a billing alert first and delete resources when you finish.
Why are there no pricing figures in the questions?
Prices change and vary by region, so the test only checks pricing models, such as when on-demand, reserved or spot capacity makes sense.
Is this the same as a cloud certification exam?
No. It covers a smaller set of fundamentals that entry-level screenings commonly check. A certification covers more services and more detail.
