Harver is a hiring platform used by many large contact centres and BPOs to screen candidates before an interview. Unlike a single English test, a Harver assessment is a set of modules that the employer picks and arranges. One company may give you a typing test, a chat simulation and a personality questionnaire; another may add cognitive puzzles, a situational judgement test and a spoken English check. The invitation email usually lists the modules and a rough total time, which candidates often report as 30 to 60 minutes.

What each module looks like

The typing test is the familiar kind: type the text shown as fast and as accurately as you can. The live chat simulation puts you in the seat of a support agent handling a few customers in a set window; you reply in the chat box, sometimes to more than one customer at a time, and the tool looks at speed, clarity, tone and whether you solve the problem. Situational judgement items show a scene from the job and ask how good each possible response is. The personality questionnaire asks how you usually behave at work. Cognitive modules are short, timed and mostly pattern or reasoning based. Some employers add a language module with grammar and vocabulary items, or a spoken English section where you repeat sentences and read a short passage aloud. Remote roles often end with a system check of your internet speed and headset.

How results are used

Harver does not publish a universal score or pass mark. Results are reported to the employer, commonly as a percentage or a comparison with a benchmark, and the employer decides the cut-off for each module. You usually do not see a detailed score yourself. The clock for a timed module starts when you open it, so read the instructions on the start screen before you click.

How to practise

Typing. Aim for accuracy first, then speed. Our typing tests report words per minute and error rate; practise 10 minutes a day until your error rate is low and stable. Contact centre roles commonly look for a comfortable, accurate speed rather than a record.

Chat simulation. This is where our customer-service lessons help most. Learn the pattern: greet, acknowledge the problem, ask one clear question, give the solution or next step, close politely. Practise writing replies in two or three short sentences with correct grammar; our business-writing and english-grammar practice sets cover this. Then practise handling two conversations at once by writing replies to two sample problems in turns.

Situational judgement and personality. Think about what a calm, customer-focused agent would do, and answer consistently. Do not try to game the personality questionnaire; inconsistent answers are easy to spot.

Cognitive. Our logical-reasoning and quantitative-aptitude tests cover number series, pattern matching and quick arithmetic.

Spoken English. Read aloud daily and repeat sentences from audio clips after one listen, using our spoken-english lessons.

Questions

How long does a Harver assessment take?

It depends on the modules the employer chooses. Candidates commonly report 30 to 60 minutes in total. The invitation usually gives an estimate.

Can I pause a Harver assessment?

Timed modules commonly run without pausing once you open them, though you may be able to take breaks between modules. Start only when you have a quiet place and a stable connection.

What typing speed do contact centres want?

There is no single figure. Listings and candidate reports commonly mention a range of around 30 to 40 words per minute with high accuracy for chat and email roles. Check the job listing.
